My disclaimer is this: I think that I have had one too many glasses of wine right now. Take this post with a grain of salt. No, seriuosly, get out that salt shaker.
I am eating some frozen yogurt at the moment and pretending that it is summertime. I am doing so
under false pretenses, which are a) I am wearing flipflops; b) I am sitting inside at my computer, which is probably around 18 (?) degrees, and not the 14 that it is outside (although this is a much nicer night than any we have had previously); and c) I am listening to the ultimate summer driving music, and that is Massive Attack. Particularly their “Mezzanine” album. That is their best summer driving album. You know, it just begs to be slipped into the CD player while you drive with the windows down with the warm breeze caressing your neck down the highway as the streetlights cast illusionistic shadows on your knees. That was a long sentence. But that is what I long to be doing right now.

Leg warmers definitely have a place in my heart. I had to dress 80s for my salsa class today and next weekend I am supposed to dress 70s glam rock. What is with all the dressing up all of a sudden? I just can’t wait until it gets a little warmer so I can have a New Jersey Douchebags party.
I am listening to the new Coldplay album right now, and my consensus so far is that it’s alright. Not enough piano! It’s by far not as good as X&Y or other previous albums, but that could be because I’ve only heard this album once so far, and X&Y was pretty much the soundtrack to my life for a while. That said, I think the acoustic version of “Lost” is my favourite track.
In terms of buying that camera, I’ve checked around at a few local stores and everyone seems to be selling it for TOO MUCH – I’m not spending an extra $100 just to buy it locally. Online looks like it’s the way to go (not that there was really any question). But, I’ve decided to compromise a little and pay my credit card down a little before I buy it. That’s the right thing to do!!
I seriously have a new perfume obsession. A month or so ago, I had noooo knowledge of perfume at all – the extent of my collection consisted of 3 Body Shop fragrances that I had bought on sale for $5 each. Now that has all changed!! On my Vegas trip, I bought Angel by Thierry Mugler and Miracle Forever by Lancome. Yesterday I was downtown perusing the perfume counter in the Bay and felt very knowledgeable asking about the new The Beat fragrance by Burberry and the summer fragrance by Gaultier. I don’t know why this made me so happy, but it did. Anyway, I came out with two samples – one of John Varvatos and the other of Ed Hardy. Now, I like the Ed Hardy fragrance, but please, look at this bottle. I may be wrong, but last time I checked I wasn’t a 13 year old wannabe punk rocker. And what a tragedy. But I think this means I may be turning into a perfume snob…
So I’ve started up this blog because my hosting ran out at my website and at the moment I’m not feeling like forking out a minimum of $6 or so a month to have a site. (Does this make me cheap? But my other host was free…) It’s my plan to go back to having my own domain and website at some point, but right now I seem to be too busy with work and school to create the kind of HTML and subsequent blog that I want!! Thus, I’m doing it the simple way.
I’m going to try and breathe a bit of new life into this as well, starting with more focused blog entries and updating more frequently! I was reading a few posts about what makes a good blog and I’ve been realizing that I’ve basically been doing the opposite! So! A fresh start! A new leaf!! We’ll see what unfolds…
I’m looking to buy a new digital camera – a digital SLR to be exact. This will be my first one (although I have quite a bit of experience on a film SLR) so I’m sticking to the basics right now, as in, I’m not looking to fork over $1000 just yet. (Did you notice I used that ‘fork over’ expression twice in this post already?? Way to be original.) I’ve decided on the Olympus E-510 because it’s got all the basics plus live-view, which was an important feature to me because with my other digital camera, I’m used to composing pictures based on the screen image, and not from putting my eye right up to the viewfinder. Also, the price is right – this camera is around $600, which is a good intro level digital SLR.
My only guilt about buying this camera (which is really not enough to stop me from purchasing it) is that the money I’d be spending is money I’ve been saving to pay off my leather couches. Honestly though: camera, or pay off couches? CAMERA.
